Too often, we as Black people call ourselves Christians, yet we struggle to show the love, respect, and support that our faith teaches us. We talk about unity, but when it comes time to uplift one another, we hesitate. We see a brother or sister striving for success, and instead of helping, we turn away—or worse, we tear them down. This mindset, this reluctance to support our own, holds us back. It’s time we change that.
One way to start is by backing the platforms that uplift our community—like this very newspaper. Our publication exists to celebrate our churches, pastors, and the everyday people who inspire and lead. It is a space where our voices matter, where our stories are told with truth and integrity. Yet, when asked to subscribe for just $13 a year, many hesitate. But when trouble comes, we are quick to seek guidance, support, and prayer. Why not invest in something that strengthens us all?
The truth is, if we don’t support each other, no one else will. Other communities build their own businesses and institutions because they understand the power of collective effort. We must do the same. A strong Black-owned Christian newspaper means a strong, informed, and connected community. It means ensuring that our stories, struggles, and triumphs are never overlooked.
So here’s the challenge: If you believe in God, if you believe in uplifting your people, then act on it. Subscribe. Support. Spread the word. This newspaper isn’t just about news—it’s about us, our faith, and our future. Let’s prove that we truly stand by what we preach.
